Medtronic needed MiniMed 780G insulin pump housings that could survive 1.5m concrete drops while passing ISO 10993-5 cytotoxicity tests. Commodity plastic injection molding services failed spectacularly – glass-filled PPSU flowed like molasses, causing weld lines that cracked under stress.
Our mold engineers deployed EDM sinking with 0.003mm step-overs to carve conformal cooling channels mirroring the housing's organic curves. The resulting injection molds maintained 80°C ±0.5°C cavity temperatures – eliminating warpage in 0.4mm thick living hinges.
In ISO Class 6 cleanrooms, Sumitomo SE180EV presses injected medical-grade resin at 398°C with 0.02-second shot control. Vision systems scanned every part for microscopic flaws before collaborative robots placed them in argon-flushed barrier bags.
